What We Believe

One of the main instructions given to the leaders of the church was to be able to teach. Leaders are also commanded to equip the saints so that they can also carry out the work of the minsitry, and this exactly what our skilled teachers desire to do.

Coming to our services should be a time of worship and fellowship, but also of mental strengthening. Sermons are understandable but yet stimulating to the mind with respect to accurate doctrine and implication.

OUR MESSAGE

God loves you and wants to give you eternal life in Heaven with Him.
Heaven is a free gift.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Rom. 6:23
Man cannot earn the gift of Heaven.
We are sinners by nature and choice.
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23
We cannot save ourselves.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith.” Eph. 2:8
God loves us.
But God is just and must punish sin.
“For the wages of sin is death.” Rom. 6:23
God provided for us Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Jesus Christ.
Who is He – the infinite God-Man.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the
Word was God…and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.”
John 1:1, 14
What did He do – He died to pay for our sin.
“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Rom. 5:8
Faith in Jesus Christ alone is the way you receive
the gift of eternal life.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead,
Thou shalt be saved.” Rom. 10:9
Faith is trusting Jesus alone for salvation.  People
trust in one of two things, either in themselves or in Christ.

Tips On How Parents Can Help

? Please bring your child to club 10-15 minutes early.  Team points are sometimes given for promptness.

? Help your child find a place to keep their Handbook and Bible to avoid the “Where’s my Handbook!” panic.

? Make sure your child wears his/her uniform to club.  If they do not have a uniform or have not earned one yet, casual clothes and tennis shoes should be worn.

? Make sure your child brings their Entrance Booklet or Handbook, dues (unless paid in advance), Bible, and are prepared with the night’s theme.  Points are given for each of these things, as well as, Sunday School attendance.  Refer to “Calendar and Themes” for specific themes.

? Contact your child’s Leader with questions or concerns.  If after talking to the Leader, the issue is not resolved, contact the Club Director or Commander.

? Help your child prepare for club each week by spending time at home with them reading and reviewing their Handbook material.  If they do not have a Bible, please contact the club director.  No child should be trying to complete their Handbook without a Bible.

? Encourage your child by familiarizing yourself with their Handbook, especially the Activities/Green Jewels.  Often these sections require more time and home related tasks and activities.

? Gently remind them to spend 5-10 minutes each day on verses.  Memorizing is hard work!  If a child works on his/her Handbook 10 minutes each day, they can complete their book in one year.

? All parents are welcome to attend any club, any night, as a visitor with their child.

Special Activities and Events

The Awana Store
The “Store” is open to Cubbies & Sparks one night each month.  Clubbers spend the “Awana Bucks” they have earned to purchase various items.  All look forward to this night! Clubbers must pay dues in order to participate.

Awards Night Program
Friends and families are encouraged to attend this evening of recognition for staff and clubbers from Cubbies through Varsity.  Program will include songs, presentations, and awards from each club.  You won’t want to miss this one!

Bible Quiz
A competitive event with other area churches that motivates and challenges clubbers to increase their Bible knowledge.  Team and individual recognition and awards are given to participants in the T & T clubs.

Fun Fair
This activity always spells fun for all clubbers, their friends, and their family.  It begins with the Awana Flag Ceremony and song, a guest presentation, followed with food, carnival-type booths, prizes and balloons.  An “Awana Buck” is given to those in uniform.

Grand Prix
An excellent parent/child relationship builder designed to encourage achievement in something other than athletic pursuits.  Clubbers (except Cubbies) compete for design and speed trophies.  Everyone starts with a kit to build a car from a block of pine wood.  Kits will be sold well in advance at a cost of $5/kit.

Dear Parents,

We are pleased to have your child involved in our Awana Club at Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church!  It is a real privilege to work together with you in the spiritual, mental, social, and physical training of your child.  Awana provides a local church sponsored program for children, regardless of religious affiliation, where they can enjoy exciting games and activities, meet new friends, and learn about God and His Word, the Bible.

We’d like to share some of our plans with you in this booklet, as well as, let you know how you can be of help to us.  You will want to keep this guide, so you can refer to it for future events.

Awana Club begins promptly at 6:10 p.m.  Children should arrive no earlier than 6:10 p.m.  Upon arrival they will check in (points given for wearing uniform and bringing Bible, handbook and dues) outside their handbook rooms.  Cubbies MUST be dropped off and picked up by a pre-registered parent or guardian.  Visitors are always welcome!

The first step in the Clubber’s advancement is the Entrance Booklet.  Please help your child learn each section, word perfect, in the order presented. Upon completion of the Entrance Booklet, your child may become an official member of the Awana Club and purchase a uniform to display their achievement awards and patches.

If you do not have a church home, we would like to invite you to visit our church.  Our worship service is at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m.  The evening service is at 6:00 p.m.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

General Guidelines and Discipline

The purpose of discipline is to teach acceptable behavior, not merely a set of rules.  By setting and enforcing club standards, Awana leaders attain a consistent standard of acceptable conduct.

Awana uses a five-count method to bring order and quiet.  It is for the whole group.  The director or person in charge will slowly count 1-2-3-4-5 at which time there should be absolute silence.

Awana uses a three-count method as a discipline device.  This is used anytime during the club to discipline individual clubbers who are disruptive or misbehaving.  The clubber will be warned by the director or person in charge with a count of “1”.  If misbehavior continues they will be warned again with a count of “2” and may be taken to the commander for counseling.  If the clubber still refuses to behave appropriately, they will receive a “3” and will be taken home or their parents called.  They will not be allowed to return to club until he/she is willing to follow the rules and behave properly.

Game Time is a privilege, and we do not want anyone to miss it.  In the case of misbehavior, however, the person in charge may revoke Game Time privileges for a night as an act of discipline.
